Angel Sarkela-Saur
Coffee Artist™
University of Minnesota Duluth Business Degree with emphasis in Marketing
1999
Self taught artist creating works for over twenty years.
Angel’s favorite works vary by subject. Some are conceptual such as
“Ilmarinen's Journey to the Northland”, based on the Finnish folktales
from the Kalevala. Other paintings are more realistic such as “The Coffee
Connoisseur.” Many paintings reflect subjects close to her heart. Her
love of nature comes through in many paintings. The sepia tones help to enhance
the warm nostalgic feelings associated with her subjects.
Angel also loves to draw and paint with other mediums.
Her ultimate goal is to travel all over the world and painting her experiences.

Andy’s favorite works are the ones that reflect his Scandinavian heritage.
For almost each exhibition, Andy would like to paint a Viking ship, Nordic
symbols, or other images in reference to Scandinavia. His favorite painting
from this genre is “Nordic Storm of Fury” which depicts a wind
god blowing into the sail of a Viking ship.
Another idea that piques Andy’s interest is the little events in the
daily life. Leaves, coffee cups, mosquito bites and ants have
all been subjects of his paintings. He correlates the everyday occurrences
with the coffee color, being a sepia tone, to old photos and memories. That
strong connection creates a warm mood.
Aside from being a graphic designer, Andy likes to carve wooden figures out
of branches, take photos of his Boston Terrier, Gidget, and read Nordic mythology.
His ultimate goal is to travel the world and paint his experiences, then come
back to his gallery to showcase the works.
