We had a package waiting on our front steps today with a return address of Pilgrim Films & Television. Our anticipation grew as we were opening the package. Sure enough! Mike Rowe had received our painting we did of him and he sent back an autograph on our print.

He wrote:
"You guys are incredible!
Mike Rowe"

That was a great response and we are very excited that he appreciated the painting.

It will be fun to watch his upcoming episodes, maybe the painting will show up on a wall behind him.... here's hoping!

One of our favorite programs to watch is "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe." We thought that he would make a good subject for a painting. We created a portrait and a short film and sent it to him. Here is what we said:

"We are Andrew Saur and Angel Sarkela-Saur, and we paint with coffee. We are huge fans of “Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe” and we always watch the show. Mike is very entertaining and we are excited what new dirty job he will encounter next. Since he has entertained us for so many years, we would like to show our appreciation returning the favor. We have created a portrait of Mike using our medium, coffee. Yes, it can be dirty at times, but that is what makes it fun. Our inspiration was from a segment during episode “Brown Plate Special.”  We noticed the crew wearing their bathrobes and sipping coffee. Mike was especially enjoying his cup o’joe in his lovely pink bathrobe. In addition to the painting, we produced a short film of the creation of this portrait. We wanted to share this with you as well. Thank you again for making a great show and we wish you continued success! "

We hope that he likes the painting and that we hear back from him soon!
